On May 11-12, the first “Lugano Business Forum” ended in the Swiss city of Lugano. The event was organized by the Ukrainian-Swiss Business Association. The work of the sections took place in seven panels, at each of which topical issues of Ukraine’s recovery were discussed.
The CAS RebuildUkraine project, implemented by the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) with the participation of the Sumy National Agrarian University, was presented at the forum. The university is represented in this project by O. Melnyk, senior researcher, head of the international projects sector of the scientific research department.
The project itself is a training program aimed at Ukrainians with S protection status, as well as Ukrainians already living in Switzerland, who are interested in the reconstruction of Ukraine. Participation in CAS Rebuild Ukraine allows participants to evaluate, jointly develop and manage projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
During the meeting, O. Melnyk also had the opportunity to present the prospects of cooperation between SNAU and BFH to the participants of the forum, in particular, regarding participation in the implementation of the Ukrainian-British project “Assessment of the lands and ecosystems of the North-East of Ukraine, damaged as a result of the Russian invasion”. She reported about the selection of soil samples in Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.
The dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Mrs. Ute Seling, noted that the university had a long history of cooperation with SNAU and announced the holding of a joint Ukrainian-British-Swiss workshop, which would be held on May 23-24 in the city of Bern with the participation of scientists and soil restoration specialists from three countries.
