THE CONFERENCE OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS “YOUTH SCIENCE FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT”

On November 9-11, 2022, a three-day scientific conference of young scientists “Youth Science for Peace and Development” was held at the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. One of the participants was Roman YAROSHCHUK, head of the Scientific Laboratory of Sumy NAU “Forestry of the north-east of Ukraine”. At the plenary session the scientist had the opportunity to share scientific achievements that affect the food security of Ukraine. The topic of the report: “Agroforestry – the Way to Restore Damaged Land and Unite Foresters and Farmers”.

Forest stands play an important role in mitigating the impact of adverse factors on climate change. On the basis of Sumy NAU the scientific laboratory “Forestry of the north-east of Ukraine” has been studying the ability of forest-forming tree species to adapt to climate change for a long time.

It was symbolic that during this period Egypt hosted the annual UN summit on climate change – COP27. Representatives of Ukraine joined the discussions on the green path of development, the consequences of the war for nature and the contribution of our state to the Paris Agreement.
