Sumy National Agrarian University, in association with the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration, the Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast, the Association of Livestock and Poultry Breeders of the Sumy Oblast, initiated the scientific and practical seminar “Day of Dairy Cattle Breeding”.
The event took place on the basis of Sumy National Agrarian University on February 23, 2023 and consisted of 2 parts: a specialized part and a plenary part.
The seminar was moderated by V. VECHORKA, Dean of the Biologyand Technology Faculty of SNAU.
The event began with a welcome speech by V. LADYKA. The Rector of Sumy NAU is a Chairman of the Council of the Association of Livestock Breeders and Poultry Breeders of the Sumy Oblast.
V. Dmytrenko reported on the topic “Happy Сow”: about the comfort of a cow’s life, its lactation, health, which is affected by several factors: water, air, rest area, lighting, feed, milking.
V. Yerchenko in online format talked about early insemination of heifers using the experience of the KERNEL company as an example. The speaker outlined the main approaches and methods of achieving the goals, the advantages of early insemination.
S. Turok, a representative of the Röttinger company, presented the equipment for the fodder manufacturer.
In addition, those present discussed issues of veterinary medicine and animal vaccinations.
O. Chekan, the Associate Professor of the Obstetrics and Surgery Department of Sumy National AgrarianUniversity expressed his expert point of view on this issue.
The second part of the event was attended by T. SAVCHENKO, Acting Head of Oblast Military Administration.
O. MASLAK, Director of the Agro-Industrial Development Department of the Sumy Regional State Administration, reported on the state of the livestock industry in the region.
Rector of SNAU V. LADYKA raised the issue of resuming the activities of the Sumy Selection Center.
V. PANCHENKO reported on anti-epizootic measures in dairy farming.
D. HERMAN presented the update of the genetic material of the Sumy Breeding Center.
Yu. Sklyarenko revealed the topic of increasing additional value due to the formation of herds with unique cow properties. He spoke about the uniqueness of A2 milk, the factors contributing to the development of the A2 milk market, the prospects of creating herds of cattle in Sumy Oblast for the production of A2 milk.
V. VECHORKA spoke about the personnel reserve of agricultural enterprises, which is ready to be provided by Sumy NAU. She also presented the latest master’s program “Aviary Breeding of Hunting Animals”.
During the seminar, participants raised important and urgent issues of animal husbandry, jointly found problem solutions and shared experience.
