On July 16-17, 2025, the first Ukrainian Mecaton was held as part of the international project Erasmus+: KA2 Unicom, with a team of students from Sumy National Agrarian University winning.

Mecaton is an innovative educational and engineering event that combines elements of a technical solution development marathon and a robotics and automation competition aimed at creating applied, creative, and socially useful projects. The goal of the Mecaton was to build cooperation between universities and communities for sustainable development, social cohesion, adaptability, resilience, and prosperity in Ukraine.

The Mecathon was organized by Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, with teams from Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and relocated universities in Donetsk, Melitopol, and others. As a result of the competition, the teams presented their terms of reference for the development of a software application and its concept. The working languages were Ukrainian and English.

Our team in the specialty F6 Information Systems and Technologies “GreenMind Lab” consisting of 2nd year masters Andriy Sidenko, Dmytro Honchar, 4th year students Ivan Busenko and Andriy Mayak won the first place. The team was mentored by Associate Professor of the Department of Cybernetics and Informatics Oleksandr Viunenko.

The victory in the Mecaton is a testament to the development of information systems and technologies at Sumy NAU, as well as a significant achievement for the Department of Cybernetics and Informatics. The team dedicated the prize to our university.

Thank you for your ideas, developments and achievements. Sumy National Agrarian University will always be proud of our tireless and creative community!
