Victory for two international projects by SNAU within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet program

Published: August 12, 2025

Sumy National Agrarian University has achieved a significant milestone in international scientific and educational cooperation: two projects submitted under the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet program have received support and funding for implementation. This result is a strong testament to the university’s scientific potential and its ability to integrate innovative approaches into the educational process in accordance with modern European standards.

The Erasmus+ Jean Monnet program aims to support teaching, research, and the dissemination of knowledge about European integration around the world. Its projects promote the exchange of best practices, deepen intercultural dialogue, and develop the institutional capacity of higher education institutions.

The first project is called AGROECOEDU: “Implementation of environmental innovations in the field of agricultural education in the context of European integration,” and is headed by Vladislav Kovalenko, head of the Department of Biotechnology and Chemistry, candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor. Over 36 months, the project team aims to develop and implement a 120-hour training module that will provide training for highly qualified specialists in the field of sustainable agriculture in accordance with European environmental standards. The aim of the project is to introduce environmental innovations into the field of agricultural education in Ukraine, taking into account the principles of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the European Green Deal. This will contribute to the harmonization of national agricultural education with European standards of sustainable agriculture and food security.

The second project is EU-TRUST: “Upholding trust: advancing EU values in audit, ethics, and public accountability in financial governance”, which is supervised by the head of the Department of Accounting and Taxation, Doctor of Economics, Professor Inna Nazarenko. It is also scheduled to last 36 months, and plans to promote Ukraine’s integration into the EU by introducing European auditing standards, increasing the transparency of financial reporting, auditor independence, and public accountability, as well as to involve 255 participants, including bachelor’s and master’s students, teachers, auditors, and representatives of professional associations. The implementation of EU-TRUST will contribute to the formation of a new generation of specialists capable of implementing European principles of transparency, ethics, and accountability in Ukraine’s financial sector.

Sumy National Agrarian University once again proves that it is a centre of innovation, professionalism, and international cooperation. The victory of two projects within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet program is the result of the hard work of our scientists, their dedication to their work, and their desire to develop Ukrainian education in a global context. We are proud that our initiatives are highly regarded internationally and will contribute to Ukraine’s European integration and the strengthening of the environmental, economic, and educational components of our state.

This year, a seminar was also held with the support of Jean Monnet, which you can learn more about at the link.
