VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS

The delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose humanitarian mission is to protect the life and dignity of victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance, was in Sumy region to resolve work issues on the 20th of January, 2023.

Sumy National Agrarian University became the venue for the meeting of the delegation, the leadership of the Sumy Regional Military Administration and industry associations.

The participants raised and discussed issues of the general economic situation faced by farmers and producers in the Sumy region; problems of small and medium-sized farms and plans to overcome them, projects to support small and medium-sized farmers.

Ahmed Abdalla, the agronomist and market specialist, comments: “I am glad to be present here in Ukraine in order to support the population, economic activity and carry out work in the direction of restoring income from agro-industrial economic activity. We understand very well the importance of the agricultural sector in the economy of Ukraine. Our aim is to support the agricultural sector, based on the needs and capacities of the given context, and to provide assistance to the population from the de-occupied territories at the individual levels: households, small farmers, small and medium productions”.

Volodymyr Ladyka, Rector of Sumy National University, in turn, outlined the problems faced by Ukrainians working in the field of agro-industry, including the lack of electricity supply, the complicated situation with logistical connections, animals’ lack of vitamins.

Sumy National Agrarian University is not the first time that it has become the site of important international meetings. In addition, the experience and knowledge of the staff of the higher education institution are relied upon when making decisions.

We are proud of the fact that we have the opportunity to contribute to the solution of the urgent needs of the agro-industrial sector of Sumy region.
