On 30 April 2025, Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Vitalii KOVAL and Head of the Sumy Regional
Military Administration Oleh HRYHOROV paid an official visit to Sumy National Agrarian University on
the occasion of the 48th anniversary of its foundation to take part in festive events and a joint meeting
with representatives of the region’s agro-industrial complex.
During the visit, the guests of honour got acquainted with the university’s infrastructure. Marharyta
LYSHENKO, Vice-Rector for scientific, pedagogical and educational work, presented the key facilities of
the university’s research and education base, including the Elvorti laboratory, an innovative module for
milk production and processing, a precision farming centre, virtual reality and robotics modules.
Particular attention was paid to the organic products created at the university.
As part of the meeting with the academic staff of SNAU, Vice-Rector Marharyta LYSHENKO and Vice-
Rector for Research and International Activities Yurii DANKO presented the university’s key
achievements in the fields of science, international cooperation, participation in grant projects and
achievements in international rankings.
During the ceremony, Minister Vitalii KOVAL addressed the university staff with a welcoming speech in
which he stressed the importance of the agricultural sector for the Ukrainian economy and praised the
activities of SNAU:
‘The agricultural sector of Ukraine is extremely important for the country’s economy. My expectations
regarding the achievements of Sumy National Agrarian University have been exceeded, and this is
very gratifying. I wish you to continue to work on your uniqueness, develop it and become a driving
force for change in our country.’
On the occasion of the holiday, congratulatory letters from the Minister of Agrarian Policy were
presented to the university staff: Mykola KOVALENKO, Vice-Rector for Academic Work; Andrii MELNYK,
Professor of the Department of Garden Design and Forestry; Oksana DATSKO, Senior Lecturer at the
Plant Growing Department; Roman YAROSHCHUK, Head of the Research Department of SNAU; Liudmyla
BULA, Associate Professor at the Department of Technology for Production and Processing of Livestock
Products and Cynology; Mykhailo HOROVYI, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Agroengineering.
The final stage of the visit was a meeting with representatives of Sumy region’s agricultural business,
during which they discussed the current challenges of the region’s agro-industrial complex, mechanisms
of state support for the industry in 2025 and priority issues that need to be addressed promptly.
The visit of the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine demonstrated the active position of SNAU as a
leading agricultural education institution that is consistently developing, strengthening partnerships and
playing an important role in shaping the future of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
