Dormitories

Sumy National Agrarian University operates 4 dormitories – five-story buildings with three internal entrances each.

General characteristics of the dormitories

Each entrance on every floor contains 14 rooms, where 2–3 students live (depending on the room size). Each entrance is divided into two sections, each with a kitchen equipped with a four-burner electric stove and a separate bathroom with a toilet and shower cabin. Additionally, on the ground floor, there are shower rooms with separate areas for male and female students, each accommodating up to 12 visitors.

The total accommodation capacity of SNAU dormitories is 1,800 students (6 square meters per student).

Campus infrastructure

The dormitories are compactly located on the student campus of Sumy NAU, near the university’s academic buildings. There are also 2 stadiums and a sports complex on campus. Dormitory No. 3 houses a medical center. A public transport stop is located nearby.

The number of available spots is determined at the beginning of each academic year and at the start of the second semester.

Dormitory student council

The university has a dormitory student council that protects the interests of residents and monitors the fulfillment of their responsibilities.

Dormitory accommodation procedure

To move into a dormitory, students must undergo a medical examination and submit an application to their faculty dean’s office requesting a bed space. After the application is reviewed, an accommodation order is issued for the academic year (or another term if the student wishes), which serves as the basis for payment.

The accommodation fee is 800 UAH per month. Payments can be made monthly, twice a year, or for the entire year.

Organizational aspects

At the beginning of the academic year, meetings are held with university leadership to introduce students to their rights, responsibilities, and dormitory rules. Every year, students of each dormitory elect section, entrance, and dormitory leaders. Dormitory student councils meet every Monday. Regular inspections are conducted to check the sanitary condition of rooms and common areas. Annually, the Department of Educational Work organizes a competition for the best dormitory room, with prizes such as sets of new furniture.
