Title of R&D Project: Regulation of the Quality and Safety of Livestock Products Through the Development of Innovative Methods and Systems for Infectious Disease Control in Animals (0118U004465)
R&D Project Leader: Fotina Tetyana Ivanivna, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor
Project Timeline: 01.2018 – 12.2020
Funding Amount: 600,000 UAH
A system for monitoring, forecasting, and controlling infectious diseases was developed. The biocide “DezSan” and the feed additive “Karsylin” were created and introduced, demonstrating hepatoprotective, detoxifying, and metabolism-normalizing effects.
Effective management of any livestock sector, especially on an industrial scale, requires the systematic implementation of veterinary and sanitary measures. Preventing the spread of infectious disease agents is essential for producing high-quality agricultural products. In intensive livestock production systems, pathogens tend to spread rapidly among susceptible populations. Therefore, breaking the epizootic chain using disinfectants is an effective measure.
The biocide “DezSan” was developed, containing glutaraldehyde and a synergistic blend of four quaternary ammonium compounds along with auxiliary substances. No equivalent product is registered in Ukraine. Compared to the disinfectant TN4+, “DezSan” is four times cheaper and effective against both field and deposited strains of microorganisms.
For the first time, the feed additive “Karsylin” was developed and experimentally shown to have a more pronounced hepatoprotective effect compared to thiotriazoline. In cases of drug-induced (tetracycline) hepatitis, “Karsylin” demonstrated comparable hepatoprotective effects, significantly exceeding thiotriazoline in antinecrotic and anti-inflammatory properties.
The research results were included in the user guidelines and other regulatory and technical documentation, which formed the basis for official registration and the launch of serial production of the products “Karsylin” (Registration Certificate No. AV-07110-04-17) and “DezSan” (Registration Certificate No. AV-07640-03-18) by the Scientific and Production Company “BrovaPharma.”
