Sumy National Agrarian University continues to expand its involvement in the development of Ukrainian science and interuniversity cooperation. This time, SNAU has joined the ranks of the founding members of the Environmental Doctoral & Research Alliance (EDRA)—a new interuniversity scientific and educational association designed to consolidate the scientific, educational, and innovative potential of Ukrainian universities in the field of environmental protection technologies.
The creation of the Alliance was officially announced during the international conference “CONNECT_ED: Strategic Partnerships for Global Academic Engagement.” It was then that nine Ukrainian higher education institutions signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, launching a new format of long-term partnership in the field of environmental research and the training of scientists.
The founding members of EDRA include:
EDRA was established as an open platform for the advancement of modern science, the training of PhD candidates, and the fostering of a new culture of inter-university collaboration. Alliance members will work on implementing joint research projects, establishing an inter-university doctoral school, promoting academic mobility, organizing summer schools, training sessions, and joint courses, as well as building a network of research infrastructure.
EDRA places particular emphasis on integrating Ukrainian researchers into the European research landscape and developing international partnerships. The next immediate step will be to expand the Alliance to include other Ukrainian universities and to establish cooperation with higher education institutions and research organizations in European Union countries.
For Sumy National Agrarian University, participation in the creation of EDRA is a natural continuation of its commitment to advancing international science, training competitive young researchers, and implementing large-scale interuniversity initiatives. Becoming one of the Alliance’s founding members opens up new opportunities for joint research, the exchange of expertise, and the creation of innovative solutions in the field of environmental protection.
SNAU will continue to actively contribute to the formation of Ukraine’s modern scientific ecosystem, in which partnerships between universities serve as the foundation for advancing research, training a new generation of scientists, and finding solutions to global environmental challenges.
