SNAU strengthens its digital and security infrastructure through strategic cooperation with the Red Cross

Published: June 29, 2026

Sumy National Agrarian University and the non-governmental organisation ‘Sumy City and District Organisation of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine’ have officially formalised their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document marks an important step in the development of systematic cooperation, which is already yielding tangible results for the university community.

The cooperation between the parties has been ongoing for several years. During this time, a number of joint initiatives have been implemented, aimed at supporting the educational process, fostering a safe environment and rolling out socially significant projects. In particular, the Red Cross has helped to create modern, safe shelters at the SNAU remote campuses, and has also supported the university environmental and humanitarian initiatives.

The memorandum was signed by Ihor KOVALENKO, Rector of the Sumy National Agrarian University, and Serhiy MALIUK, Chair of the Sumy City and District Organisation of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The working meeting was also attended by the university vice-rectors, Marharita LYSHENKO and Volodymyr KASIANENKO, the director of the student campus, Alla SVYRYD, and the head of student accommodation, Maryna MIKULINA.

A key outcome of this new phase of cooperation was the donation of humanitarian aid to SNAU in the form of computer equipment, monitors and peripherals. The equipment received will enable the university to modernise its infrastructure, expand the capabilities of its digital learning environment and create more comfortable conditions for students and lecturers to study and work.

A separate area of cooperation concerns improving safety standards at the university. The parties have agreed to implement joint civil protection programmes, organise training sessions on first aid and mine safety, and train instructors to work with students and staff at the university and the colleges of the SNAU.

‘A true partnership is always measured by actions. We are sincerely grateful to the Red Cross for its humanitarian support and ongoing assistance in modernising the learning environment and enhancing security. The computer equipment donated will significantly expand our digital capabilities and help create a modern educational space for the entire university community,” said Ihor KOVALENKO, Rector of SNAU.

The university will continue to develop partnerships with leading humanitarian organisations, implementing modern solutions in the fields of education, security and digital transformation.
