On September 1, Knowledge Day, the 2026/2027 international online semester began at the Weienstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT, Germany). This year, 214 students from 18 countries around the world enrolled in the program, including 29 students from Sumy National Agrarian University.
HSWT is one of Germany’s leading institutions of higher education in the field of life sciences, particularly agriculture, agricultural management, and food technology, with a large international student community.
The international online semester has already become an important part of the long-standing cooperation between SNAU and HSWT. The program gives students the opportunity to participate in courses at a German university, choose additional specialized courses, interact with students from different countries, and gain international academic experience without leaving Ukraine.
This year, the program offers courses in three fields: agricultural sciences, food technology, and nutrition. The program combines up-to-date educational materials, interactive formats, and international collaboration. Upon completion, students can earn ECTS credits, which are recognized for academic mobility and as part of their individual study plans.
A key advantage of the program is that it is free for students. Upon completion of the semester, participants receive a document detailing their academic performance and a certificate of completion. Academic credits may be recognized by SNAU in accordance with the student’s individual study plan.
The official start of the semester was marked by a joint online meeting attended by representatives of HSWT, partner universities, and students. During the meeting, participants learned about the organization of the program, asked questions, and discussed the specifics of the new semester.
For SNAU students, participating in the program is more than just taking additional courses. It is an opportunity to deepen their professional knowledge, learn about the educational approaches of a German university, establish international professional contacts, and gain experience studying in a different academic environment.
