SNAU supports initiatives promoting accessibility and mental health among young people

Published: May 29, 2026

On 19 May 2026, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted a themed event as part of Accessibility, Inclusion and Resilience Week, which is being held as part of the implementation of the state Strategy for Creating an Accessible Environment in Ukraine and will run from 25 to 31 May this year.

The event took place as part of the nationwide mental health programme ‘How Are You?’, initiated by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena ZELENSKA.

SNU has been actively involved in organising themed events aimed at supporting mental health, fostering an inclusive environment and building resilience among students.

The first event of the week was a workshop entitled ‘The First Step Towards Positive Change: Self-Awareness’, organised by specialists from the Resilience Centre. The session took place as part of the ‘Building a Positive Outlook on Life’ programme.

During the session, participants got to know one another, created a safe space for open communication, and explored the theme of personal values — the inner foundation that helps a person make decisions, set life goals, and find support even in difficult circumstances.

Particular attention was paid to the topic of accessibility as a means of creating a space where everyone can feel accepted, heard and included, regardless of their life circumstances or individual characteristics. During the training, participants also discussed the importance of mental health, developing self-care skills and looking after one’s own emotional well-being.

Ahead lie new meetings, practical sessions and important discussions on inner resources, support, development and building a positive outlook on life.
