In Sumy, the members of the Youth Council under the Sumy City Council have been re-elected. The new composition of this consultative body includes 15 youth representatives aged 17 to 24, who will work to develop youth policy and strengthen cooperation between young people and local government bodies.
Among the members of the renewed Youth Council are students from Sumy National Agrarian University:
The Council will operate in five areas: media, analysis and advocacy, projects, communications, and internal development. Each committee’s activities will include implementing youth initiatives, organizing events, participating in working groups, and developing projects aimed at community development.
Representatives of the Youth Council are already actively involved in community activities. In particular, they are participating in the “Peer-to-Peer: Youth to Youth. Sumy” project organized by the “Romantika” Youth Center, and they helped plant the Alley of Heroes in Sumy and restore the embroidery pattern on Soborna Street.
The “Romantika” Youth Center is currently conducting a survey of young people in the community to identify their current needs and challenges. Based on the results, the Youth Council will develop a plan of action and set priorities for its activities.
Those interested can also join the Youth Council as volunteers by participating in youth projects, events, and informational campaigns.
Sumy National Agrarian University takes pride in its students’ active civic engagement and supports youth initiatives aimed at community development, leadership, and youth self-governance.
