On 18 April, final examinations were held at Sumy National Agrarian University for students on preparatory courses, marking an important stage in assessing applicants’ knowledge and readiness for entrance examinations.
To provide psychological support to participants during a period of heightened emotional stress, an interactive session entitled ‘Exam Stress: The Art of Self-Control and Recovery’ was organised. The session was led by Olga SEMENIUK, a clinical psychologist from the Department of Student Welfare at SNAU.
During the session, participants were introduced to practical approaches for managing anxiety, stabilising their emotional state and replenishing their inner resources. Particular attention was paid to the ‘resilience pathway’, which covers the stages of exam preparation, behaviour during the exam, and recovery afterwards. In particular, techniques for focusing on the outcome, methods for rapid stabilisation (breathing exercises, grounding techniques, water-based practices), as well as methods for effective recovery were discussed.
As a result of this work, each participant developed a personalised set of psychological tools to maintain emotional balance and self-confidence.
Organising such events helps to improve applicants’ readiness for entrance exams, develop their psychological resilience and build effective self-control skills in stressful situations.
