DONATION CENTER TOUR WAS ORGANIZED FOR SNAU STUDENTS

SNAU students together with the Department for Organizing the Educational Activity with students visited the Sumy Regional Blood Service Center “Biopharma Plasma”. An interesting tour was organized for them.

Students visited the waiting rooms, donation rooms, learnt the mechanisms of connecting donors to the plasma collection system (collection of blood components or whole blood), got acquainted with the laboratories that perform tests for donors at each donation. They also saw a refrigerator, where packages with plasma, blood components and whole blood are stored. Students learnt about the mechanism of culling bad plasma or blood, where it is sent and what drugs are made from it, who can be a donor, the reasons for exclusion from donation and a lot of other information.

No less interesting was the process of freezing plasma bags, because 700 ml of plasma can be completely frozen in 4 minutes in a special device with a temperature of – 48 degrees Celsius.

After the excursion the administration of the blood center informed about the upcoming events in which students of Sumy NAU will be able to participate and not only do good deeds, but also receive gifts. They discussed joint projects of SNAU + BIOPHARMA PLASMA.

We sincerely thank Biopharma Plasma for the excursion, for dispelling the myths about the donation of blood and its components. It’s not only noble to be a donor, but also good for health, let’s join together!
