Volodymyr Ladyka

Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

Born on August 23, 1962 in the village of Pidlypne, Konotop District, Sumy Region.

In 1984 he graduated from Sumy branch of Kharkiv Agricultural Institute named after Dokuchaiev on specialty "Zoo Technics" and began his career as chief livestock expert of the collective farm named after Lenin, Krolevets district, Sumy Region.

In 1989 he graduated from the postgraduate study program of Moscow Agricultural Academy named after Tymyriaziev, defended his Ph.D. thesis on " Influence of Different Degrees of Inbreeding on Schwyz Livestock Dairy Productivity" and was conferred a Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Sciences.

In 1999 he defended his doctoral thesis at the Specialized Scientific Council of the Institute of Animal Breeding and Genetics of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences on the topic: "Selection Aspects of Qualitative Improvement of Lebedyn Livestock Population" and was conferred his Higher Doctorate of Agricultural Sciences.

From 1990 till 2003 he worked at Sumy National Agrarian University as Assistant, Assistant Professor, Vice- rector for Foreign Economic Activity, First Vice- rector. During this period, he worked as the Head of Zoological Hygiene and Veterinary Medicine Department and acted as the Dean of the Zoo Engineering Faculty.

From April 2003 till April 2005 he worked as the Director of Sumy State Selection Center.

From April 2005 till December 2010 he worked as Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University, the Head of the Department of Special Zoo Technics.

In January 2011, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, he was appointed the Vice Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, where he worked till April 2011, until he was elected Vice President of the National Academy of

Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

In July 2011, by the Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine he was appointed Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University.

The main focus of his scientific research is cattle breeding and selection.

He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and resource books. He speaks German fluently.
Has state awards are: "Badge of Honor" for Distinguished Labor (Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine dated 04.08.08 № 334-к), “Third Class Order of Merit" (Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 619/2009 dated 18.08.2009).

He was elected as a Deputy of the Sumy Regional Council of the V and VI convocations, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Agro-industrial Complex and Social Development of the village in Sumy Regional Council.

He is married. Has a son and a daughter.
