On November 2, the Sumy National Agrarian University became held a seminar on animal husbandry with the participation of representatives of science, government and business “Modern approaches in the technology of keeping and growing pigs.”

Health and veterinary medicine, breeding of pigs, their feeding, documentation of one’s own farm – aspects with which those present at the seminar got acquainted. Specialists shared their experience and knowledge. The event was held on the initiative of Sumy National Agrarian University with the support of the public union “Association of Livestock and Poultry Breeders of the Sumy Oblast” and the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration.

The moderator of the event was the Head of the Public Union “Association of Animal and Poultry Breeders of Sumy Oblast” Ihor VOSCHENKO.

The next part of the seminar will be presentations on the topic of pig breeding technology. It began with a speech by Mykola POVOD, Professor of the Department of Feed Technology and Animal Feeding of Sumy National University. The next speaker was Ihor PLAKOTNYK, the Head of the Enterprise for the Production of Energy ASTART DENMARK Supplements for Piglets. Oleksandr BORDUN, a senior researcher at the Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast of the National Academy of Sciences, told about the tribal base of the Sumy region.

In addition, Victoria VECHORKA, the Dean of the Biological and Technological Faculty of SNAU, spoke about the experience of our institution in the field of dual education in the field of veterinary medicine, technology of production and processing of livestock products, and Iryna TODERYUK, Director of the Center for Advanced Training, Improvement of Managers and Specialists of Sumy NAU shared information about postgraduate education of veterinary medicine specialists.

The event ended with a speech by Oleksandr MASLAK, Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Sumy Region, on the topic of the agricultural sector support program in 2023.
