On January 27, the meeting of the Academic Council of Sumy National Agrarian University was held to discuss the following agenda items:
– Support for works to participate in the 2025 competition for the President of Ukraine Award for Young Scientists, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Award for Young Scientists, and the annual President of Ukraine Grant for Doctors of Science (up to 45 years old) for conducting research and development (Speaker: Acting Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities, Oleksandr SOLAROV);
– Results of the activities of the Malovystorop College named after P.S. Rybalka SNAU in 2024 (Speaker: Director of Malovystorop College, Volodymyr DOTSENKO);
– Results of the activities of the Putyvl College SNAU in 2024 (Speaker: Director of Putyvl College, Viktor KHIARM);

At the beginning of the meeting, the commander of the 143rd Separate Rifle Brigade, Volodymyr

LAVRYK, expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the command and personnel of military unit A4844 for the university’s active civic position, patriotism, care, and selfless assistance to servicemen performing combat missions. The Rector of SNAU – Ihor KOVALENKO, Advisor to the Rector – Volodymyr LADYKA, Head of the Primary Trade Union Organization – Nataliia KOLODNENKO, Head of the Department of Ecology and Botany – Viktoriia SKLIAR, Head of the Department of Horticulture and Forestry – Tetiana MELNYK, Associate Professor of the Department of Building Structures – Liudmyla TSYHANENKO, and Lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law – Svitlana ZINCHENKO, who was also awarded the Order of Semyon the God-Receiver “For Volunteer Activity”, were awarded with thanks.

During the discussion of the first agenda item, the Academic Council unanimously supported SNAU scientists’ works for participation in the 2025 competitions for the President of Ukraine Award, the Verkhovna Rada Award for Young Scientists, and the annual President of Ukraine Grant for Doctors of Science (up to 45 years old). The following scientific works were presented:
– “Modern preventive measures for controlling infectious diseases in bees and ensuring ecologically safe beekeeping products in wartime and post-war conditions,” by Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences, Dmytro KISIL;
– “Comprehensive assessment and development of soil reclamation technologies damaged by military actions,” by Ph.D., Oksana DATSKO;
– “Technological aspects of using derivatives of plant and dairy processing in food products,” by Ph.D., Tetiana SYNENKO;
– “Creation of new physiologically active substances from unconventional plant raw materials for sustainable food systems,” by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Maryna SAMILYK;
– “Reducing the risks of Ukraine’s food system transformation caused by wartime circumstances through the use of new food raw materials,” by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Maryna SAMILYK.

Directors of the Malovystorop College and the Putyvl College of SNAU, Volodymyr DOTSENKO and Viktor KHIARM, respectively, presented reports on the performance of their institutions, analyzed enrollment trends, and outlined plans to improve learning and working conditions. Discussions included the importance of strong partnerships with stakeholders and studying dual-degree experiences.

The Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Technology, Viktoriia VECHORKA, and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Liudmyla NAHORNA, also reported on the performance of their faculties in 2024. Their reports covered student enrollment trends, research activities of department staff, the opening of new academic programs, and plans to diversify academic and extracurricular activities, as well as the use of the vivarium.

Additionally, the council approved students for named scholarships for the spring semester:
– President of Ukraine Scholarship: Tetiana DOVBNA, Nadiia SERHIENKO, Dmytro BABUROV;
– M.S. Hrushevsky Scholarship: Maryna ZHURAVLOVA;
– Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Scholarship: Aliona POPOVA.
