Sumy National Agrarian University and Okhtyrka Vocational College of SNAU joined the project to
monitor the state of atmospheric air with modern equipment.
As part of the State Monitoring Program for the Sumy Zone for 2022-2026, a modern indicative air
monitoring station was installed in Okhtyrka. The ENVEA device (France), CAIRNET model, will provide
monitoring of the following pollutants: sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, PM10, PM2.5,
volatile organic compounds and ozone.
The Department of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of the Sumy Regional State
Administration received this equipment from the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine in
partnership with the Government of Sweden.
According to the monitoring program, it is planned to install 4 air monitoring stations (indicative stations
in Konotop, Lebedyn, Okhtyrka and an automated station in Shostka). In 2023, an indicative observation
point was already installed in Konotop and a software and hardware complex for data analysis and
storage was implemented.
In the presence of Okhtyrka Mayor Pavlo KUZMENKO and Director of the Okhtyrka Vocational College of
the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences Andrii STAVYTSKYI, a Memorandum of Cooperation was
signed between Sumy National Agrarian University, represented by Rector Ihor KOVALENKO, and the
Department of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Sumy Regional State Administration.
The event presented monitoring software that allows storing, processing, and publishing real-time air
quality data.
This project is an important step towards improving the quality of life and environmental situation in our
region and is a small brick in the implementation of climate policy. We are working for clean air and
health of the region!
