Anzhelika SHEVEL, Associate Professor of the Department of Justice and Philosophy, PhD, while on an internship at the Center for Philosophical Studies at the Free University of Brussels, teaches Ukrainian to foreign students.
The classes were organized by the Faculty of Literature, Translation and Communication.
The course is held for students of two levels: the first is for those who have never learned Ukrainian, and the second is for those who have learned Slavic languages.
Diplomats, translators, employees and students of the Free University of Brussels are willing to learn the language.
The course consists of 13 lessons of 2.5 hours each. At the end of the course, students take a test, the results of which can be used to move to a higher level of study.
Anzhelika SHEVEL positions Ukrainian as the language of prestigious, educated, intelligent and successful people. In her classes, she teaches reading and writing, as well as shares her knowledge of how to speak beautifully and competently.
“The main goal of teaching is to give students the opportunity to communicate. But to do this well, you need to know both vocabulary and grammar, to encourage students not only to learn the rules but also to apply them in practice, in their speech,” emphasizes Angelika SHEVEL.
During the courses, students get acquainted with the history and culture of our homeland.
Each participant has a different motivation for learning. Some are considering employment in Ukraine, while others want to get closer to their loved ones.
Charge d’Affaires of Ukraine in Belgium Natalia ANOSHYNA congratulated those involved on the opening of the Ukrainian language courses in Brussels. The official said that the Embassy in Ukraine will work to ensure that such classes are held on a regular basis.
