Traditionally, the entire Sumy region celebrates a great holiday – the Day of Agricultural Workers – at Sumy National Agrarian University. This day is special because it recognizes the activities of those people who contribute to the development of the agro-industrial complex of Sumy region and Ukraine through their tireless work.
The perception of the agricultural sector and the people involved in it has changed dramatically since the start of the full-scale invasion. Our educational institution is a forge of highly qualified personnel who develop it.
Traditionally, representatives of regional and city authorities, business owners and entrepreneurs who understand the importance of the agricultural industry and the specialists who continue to do their job in such difficult conditions visited SNAU. According to the rector of Sumy NAU, Ihor KOVALENKO, this day is an important reminder of the hard work that agrarians do every day:
“Without exaggeration, Ukraine today is based on agriculture. It has never been easy work, it is always hard and painstaking work of everyone involved in this process, and today it has become dangerous. However, despite everything, we have to train a high-quality specialist, because a specialist in the agricultural sector is the food security of the state.”

- Roman OVSIUKOV, Director of the Sumy branch of Agrotekhsoiuz;
- Vladyslav VASYLIEV, Head of the Kulomza business unit;
- Ivan TELIUSHCHENKO, General Director of Kerameya LLC;
- Volodymyr OPRYSHKO, employer of Opryshko sole tradeship;
- Mykola Movchan, Director of the Sumy branch of the national joint-stock company;
- Oleksandr MIROSHNYCHENKO, director of Slobozhanshchyna Agro, a private agricultural enterprise;
- Mykola Zheldubovskyi, director of the private agricultural enterprise Garant.
According to them, SNAU students are already working at the enterprises, demonstrating excellent professional skills. To encourage the students, they prepared gratitude and gifts – equipment and supplies necessary for training. “Not only the students, but also the university departments were provided with the necessary equipment for the Interfaculty Training and Research and Production Laboratory of Meat Processing Technologies.
“Thanks to the high-quality training of students, we are forming a generation of professionals who will be able to work effectively with the latest technologies and methods of agricultural activities,” the stakeholders add.
Oleksandr Maslak, Director of the Department of Agricultural Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration, also came to celebrate the achievements of Sumy NAU. He recognized the work of the staff of Sumy National Agrarian University. Certificates of honor were awarded for exemplary performance of production tasks, hard and effective work, responsible attitude to work:
“We sincerely congratulate all representatives of agriculture. Sumy region is an agro-industrial region. Both components of our regional economy are very important. Agrarian universities play a key role in the strategic development of efficient and promising agriculture and the country’s economy as a whole,” the director of the Department of Agricultural Development of Sumy Regional State Administration adds.
Konstiantyn TOVSTUKHA, Deputy Chairman of the Sumy Regional Council, had the opportunity to present the honorary certificates and letters of thanks from the Sumy Regional Council. In his welcoming remarks, the official spoke about his experience of studying at the university and thanked everyone involved in the agricultural sector.
Today, the work of agrarians is a necessary component of an independent and economically strong country, because agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the economy for our country and plays a key role in ensuring food security, economic development and social well-being of the population.
The University provides training, innovation, development of rural communities and environmental protection. Investments in education and research in the field of agricultural science are important for ensuring food security and sustainable development of the country.
