Sumy Business School is an innovative inclusive unit of Sumy National University that provides an opportunity to learn economics and business skills and start business. The courses are open to combatants and their families. The first short-term educational programme has already been successfully completed.
About the Entrepreneurship and Business Planning programme
From 26 January 2024 to 12 April 2024, Sumy Business School implemented a short-term educational programme ‘Entrepreneurship and Business Planning’, which was attended by 26 people, including combatants, persons with disabilities as a result of war, their families and family members of fallen servicemen living in the Sumy region.
During the programme, listeners had the opportunity to learn about practical cases on business planning and development, key requirements for business planning, doing business in Ukraine, psychological tools that help businesses find effective solutions, and successful domestic and international business practices.
As part of the course’s thematic blocks, the participants considered the requirements for organising business processes, legal aspects of doing business and electronic document management. They worked out the basics of taxation of small businesses in Ukraine and approaches to developing a financial model for small businesses. They studied modern Internet marketing tools and acquired risk management skills in running their own business, which allowed them to identify possible movement vectors, depending on the business idea.
Given the available opportunities for grant funding, the course participants worked on a project application from the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, which finances veterans’ businesses, which allowed them to identify the direction of development of their business idea and prospective partners and to identify a range of problematic issues.
Ceremonial presentation of certificates
On 10 May 2024, listeners of the short-term programme got certificates of successful course completion. At the event, the graduates were greeted by representatives of Sumy Business School’s partner institutions: Director of the Department for Social Policy, Veterans and Reintegration of Sumy Regional State Administration Liudmyla MUSIIAKA, Director of the Sumy Regional Employment Centre Leonid CHEPULSKYI and Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the State Educational Institution Sumy Centre for Vocational Education of the State Employment Service Viktoriia SHAPOVALOVA.
Volodymyr ARTIUKH, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, personally presented the certificates to the participants and noted that the implementation of this project is a vivid example of development and self-improvement, even in wartime.
Rector of Sumy NAU Volodymyr LADYKA also joined the greetings and announced the enrolment of listeners for a new short-term educational programme.
