The Business School of Sumy National Agrarian University is hosting training for representatives of partner communities in Sumy Oblast who want to start their own business or scale it up.
The United Nations Development Programme is implementing a new project – the School of Social Entrepreneurship. The partner is the SNAU Business School, funded by the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Participants in the initiative were selected from among the residents of the six partner communities in Sumy Oblast: Sumy, Konotop, Krolevets, Lebedyn, Duboviazivka and Chernechchyna. The total number of people involved was 30.
The project included a four-day online theoretical course. Subsequently, from 12 to 14 June 2024, participants had the opportunity to practice their knowledge during offline workshops at the Sumy Business School of the SNAU. Afterwards, they will receive individual consultations and presentations of their projects. The best participants will get financial support to implement their business plan.
The grand opening of the offline week was attended by representatives of the government, education and UNDP, which demonstrates their synergy to improve the economic education of Ukrainians and their desire to promote the development of private business in difficult times of war. Among the guests of honour at the event were Volodymyr ARTIUKH, Head of Sumy Regional State Administration – Head of the Regional Education Department, Olena BOYKO, Deputy Head of Sumy Regional State Administration – Head of the Regional Education Department, Volodymyr LADYKA, Acting Acting Rector of Sumy National University, Liudmyla MUSIAKA, Director of the Department for Social Policy, Veterans and Reintegration of Sumy Oblast State Administration, Olha Reznichenko, Community Mobilisation Specialist in Sumy Oblast, UNDP Ukraine, Nataliia SAMOILENKO, Head of the Department for Interaction with Veterans and Volunteers of the Department for Social Policy, Veterans and Reintegration of Sumy Oblast State Administration. Federica DISPENZA, UNDP Community Safety and Social Cohesion Team Leader, joined the meeting online.
Federica DISPENZA, who initiated the creation of the School of Social Entrepreneurship, in her welcoming speech thanked everyone who showed interest in this initiative and noted the Sumy Business School and the administration of the SNAU for supporting such educational events. She noted that UNDP is a strategic partner of Ukraine in reconstruction at all levels: state, national, regional, and community. The main idea of UNDP’s work is to create the capacity to rebuild our country. Holding the Social Entrepreneurship School was one of the steps towards achieving this global goal.
Volodymyr ARTIUKH noted that the School of Social Entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful projects aimed at restoring Ukraine and creating conditions for improving the living standards of citizens.
Volodymyr LADYKA, acting rector of the SNAU, stressed that this project is extremely useful for the university, as SNAU lecturers are in constant contact with communities and improve the quality of educational services.
In future, the participants of the School of Social Entrepreneurship will have a lot of work to do for their own development, but with the support of Sumy Business School experts, they will be able to move from a dream to a life-changing business.
