On December 6, 12 participants of the short-term advanced training program “Entrepreneurship and Business Planning” held at Sumy National Agrarian University completed their training.
From October 18, 2024 to November 30, 2024, the Sumy Business School held activities for the professional adaptation of persons discharged or discharged from military service, war veterans, persons with special merits before the Motherland, family members of such persons, family members of deceased war veterans, family members of deceased Defenders of Ukraine and other participants.
During the program, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with practical cases on business planning and development, key requirements for business planning, doing business in Ukraine, psychological tools that help businesses find effective solutions, and successful domestic and international business practices. As part of the thematic blocks of the course, the students considered the requirements for organizing business processes, legal aspects of doing business and electronic document management. They worked out the basics of small business taxation in Ukraine and approaches to forming a financial model for the functioning of small businesses. They studied modern Internet marketing tools, acquired skills in risk management when running their own business, which allowed them to determine possible vectors of movement, depending on the business idea.
The training was attended by 12 people, including participants in hostilities, members of their families and members of the families of military personnel. Two of them studied at the expense of the state budget in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated June 21, 2017 No. 432. The other 10 people – at the expense of SNAU.
Upon completion of the course, the participants received the corresponding certificates. 4 of them were able to pick them up in person. For Nina SEMKIV, Yuliia SAVCHUK, Iryna SHULHA and Maryna MATIUSHCNKO, they had a pleasant surprise – the certificates were presented to them by the rector of SNAU – Ihor KOVALENKO and the head of Sumy OVA – Volodymyr ARTIUKH.
For those present, the presentation of certificates on December 6 is of special importance, because they are all family members of military personnel. Receiving a certificate of completion of the program on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a very touching and special moment. Iryna SHULHA is the wife of a military personnel who went to defend Ukraine back in 2014. She says that she wants to open a cafe and name it in honor of her husband. Having her own business is a dream for her:
“It was always interesting to understand what it is like when you are not an employee and part of something, but when you are the owner of a business. Now I have experience and, most importantly, practical skills on how to do it best. I am sure that the knowledge gained will definitely help us.”
Considering the available grant funding opportunities, the course participants worked on a project application from the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, which finances veterans’ businesses, which allowed them to determine the direction of development of the business idea and prospective partners and identify a range of problematic issues. The knowledge base received by the participants will allow them to intensify efforts to develop business ideas and start their own business, using support from the state and international partners.
