On February 12, 2024, at the initiative of LLC “A.P.Cert” in cooperation with the Sumy National Agrarian University held a Round Table on the topic “Implementation of regenerative practices in Ukraine”. Representatives of the teaching staff, scientists, agricultural producers, consultants and advisers from different regions of Ukraine took part in the event.
Experts, including Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Agriculture and Herbology of the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine Mykhailo KOSOLAP and Doctor of Economic Sciences, Senior Researcher, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine Anatolii KUCHER, gave reports on the current state of implementation of regenerative practices in Ukraine and prospects for their development.
During the discussion, the main topics were:
- Analysis of the current state of agricultural production in Ukraine and the need to introduce regenerative practices.
- Measures to reduce the intensity of tillage.
- Sowing cover crops and side crops to improve soil conditions.
- Rational use of nitrogen fertilizers in order to preserve soil fertility.
- Creation of ecological zones to preserve biodiversity and stabilize ecosystems.
Based on the discussions of the Round Table participants, the main areas of further cooperation were determined, in particular:
- Consolidation of the implementation of regenerative practices as a priority direction for the agricultural sector of Ukraine, taking into account climate changes and the deterioration of the ecological situation.
- Adaptation of agricultural production to the requirements of the European Union countries regarding environmental standards.
- Ensuring the position of Ukraine as one of the leading producers of food products on the world market due to the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies and practices.
The conclusion of the Round Table emphasized the importance of joint efforts of all branches of agriculture and scientific research institutions to achieve sustainable development of the agricultural sector and preserve the environment.
