On November 28-29, the Sumy National Agrarian University hosted the creative competition “SNAU STUDENT’S AWARDS”. This initiative was proposed on the occasion of International Student Day. The competition demonstrates not only the creative talents of students, but also covers a wide variety of areas of student activity. Every year, all faculties of the university will compete for the title and cup of the winners and the title “the best of the best”.
The theme of this year’s competition, chosen by students, is “Hollywood in Ukrainian”. The idea is to interpret famous movie hits through the prism of the authenticity of Ukrainian cities, taking into account their geographical, historical and cultural features. During the celebration of Student’s Day, a draw was held and the sequence of university performances was chosen. Over the course of two days, the audience was shown:
- “Vono” in Sumy from the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Management;
- “Avengers” in Transcarpathia performed by students of the Faculty of Biology and Technology;
- “Titanic” in Lviv was implemented by the Faculty of Law;
- “Pirates of the Caribbean” in Dnipro with the participation of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology;
- “Home Alone” in Zaporizhia through the lens of students of the Faculty of Economics and Management;
- “Joker” in Crimea, which was represented by the Faculty of Food Technology;
- “Harry Potter” in Odessa, which enchanted the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine;
- “Star Wars” in Poltava was demonstrated by the Faculty of Construction and Transport.
Each of the performances was intended to convey the atmosphere of a specific film, using costumes, makeup, music and a light show. The creative teams of the faculties prepared numbers that combined acting, creative performances and long dialogues. Each new film offered the audience something new and unique, the audience saw familiar scenes from a different angle.
The difficulty of evaluating the best was also noted by the jury member, head of the department for organizing educational work with students of SNAU – Viktoriia ZAIARNA:
“An extraordinary event that gave bright emotions, positive impressions and admiration for student creativity and enthusiasm. The most important goal for which this event was initiated, despite the challenges of war and distance learning, is to unite students, give them a reason to communicate outside the educational process in an informal atmosphere, and to realize their creative ideas. And we believe that we succeeded. An incredible charge of energy, excitement during performances, competition, the spirit of competition, the joy of a long-awaited victory – all these are genuine emotions of young people, which filled them with motivation for new ideas and projects for university students.”
After the faculties’ speeches, the jury members announced the results. According to them, it was incredibly difficult, because everyone did their best. In the end, the best were chosen in the following nominations:
“Audience Award“/”Most Impressive” – Faculty of Civil Engineering and Transportation.
“The most creative – the Faculty of Economics and Management;
“The Most Patriotic – the Faculty of Biology and Technology;
“The most ingenious” – Faculty of Agricultural Technology and Environmental Management;
“The smartest” – Faculty of Engineering and Technology;
“The Most Talented” – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine;
“The most original – the Faculty of Food Technologies;
And the most important prize and the Grand Prix of the whole competition went to the students of the Law Faculty!
After two days of fierce battles, everyone agreed that this competition will become an annual traditional ceremony and will be a prestigious award for students.
