Sumy may soon become one of the greenest cities in Ukraine thanks to the project of landscaping public and recreation areas initiated by Sumy National Agrarian University.
The working meeting of the SNAU administration, scientists and students with the representatives of the local self-government of the city – the deputy of the Sumy City Council Oleksandr Zymenko and the head of the Department of Infrastructure Oleksandr Zhurba was devoted to the discussion of this project and determination of the first steps to its implementation.
During the meeting, the creation of a «road map» was initiated – a comprehensive strategy for landscaping of Sumy – which should eventually turn Sumy into the real city of parks.
“Altanka” Square, “Pokrovskii” Square, “Druzhba” Square and the territory of the Romantica Youth Leisure Center were identified as priorities for the Great Landscaping. They also plan to start the landscaping along Herasim Kondratiev Street from Gamaliia Street to the Airport.
The initiative was recorded in the Memorandum between Sumy City Council and Sumy NAU. The executor of the project will be the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Natural Resource Management.
