Sumy National Agrarian University became one of the five institutions of higher education in Ukraine and the only one among agrarian ones that received support for the creation of the Energy Innovation Hub.
The competitive selection was conducted among higher education institutions of Ukraine within the framework of the project “Promotion of energy efficiency and implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine”, implemented in Ukraine by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Government.
In total, 17 higher education institutions from 14 regions of Ukraine participated in the competition. 5 of them, including the Sumy National Agrarian University, were given direct support in the creation of the Energy Innovation Hub, the others became associated participants in the network of Energy Innovation Hubs in Ukraine.
Candidate of technical sciences, senior lecturer of the Department of Construction and Operation of Buildings, Roads and Transport Facilities of the Faculty of Construction and Transport of the Sumy National Agrarian University Oleksandr NOVYTSKYI became the main initiator and ideological inspirer of filling out the tender application. Oleksandr SAVOISKYI, a senior lecturer at the Department of Energy and Electrical Engineering Systems, was his right hand during work process.
In general, the Sumy National Agrarian University managed to satisfy all the requirements of the organizers of the competitive selection to receive support for the creation of the Energy Innovation Hub, namely: the presence of relevant specialties (“Construction and Civil Engineering”, “Architecture and Urban Planning”, “Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics”) , development of a certain level of provision of own material and technological base, highly qualified personnel support of the institution.
It is planned that as part of the project “Promotion of energy efficiency and implementation of the EU Directive on energy efficiency in Ukraine”, Sumy National Agrarian University, as one of the winners of the competitive selection, will be given demonstration and laboratory equipment for energy audit.
According to the dean Oleksandr SOLAROV, a laboratory – Energy Innovation Hub will be created on the basis of the Faculty of Engineering and Transport, the material and technical base of which will be used by students and scientists of SNAU for educational and research purposes.
Moreover, the organizers of the competition will develop and implement training courses for our university, integrate the “Climate Drops” mobile application and install “Smart Energy” modeling technologies.
