On January 15, 2024, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection issued order No. 16 “On approval of the position and composition of the Scientific and Methodological Council.” According to the provision specified in the order, the created Scientific and Methodological Council is designed to coordinate and develop the scientific and methodical aspects of the service’s activities. The main goal of this decision is to strengthen the interaction between scientific institutions and the industry body in order to ensure the safety and quality of food products on the Ukrainian market. Note that this decision is relevant in the context of constant changes in production and consumer requirements.
Together with the approval of the Regulations on the Scientific and Methodological Council, a personal composition of experts was announced, who will actively interact in the development of scientific and methodical aspects of the service’s activities. The council includes representatives of Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU), who joined the team of experts on food safety and consumer rights.
“Food safety” section:
Nataliia BOLHOVA – candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor, dean of the Faculty of Food Technologies of Sumy National Agrarian University (by consent).
“Veterinary medicine” section:
Oleksandr NECHYPORENKO – doctor of veterinary sciences, professor, dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Sumy National Agrarian University (by consent).
Section “Phytosanitary safety and control in crop production”:
Oleksandr YEMETS- Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Plant Protection Department of Sumy National Agrarian University (by consent).
This important step became a new stage in the development of scientific strategies in the field of food safety and consumer rights protection in Ukraine. The measures taken by the State Production and Consumer Service open the way to greater efficiency in ensuring the quality and safety of products that end up on the tables of Ukrainian consumers.
