SNAU Student Activists United Ukrainians around the World to Help Orphans

The volunteer movement “Under the Wing of Goodness of SNAU” has been successfully operating for many years. During this time, the student activists in its various formations have managed to bring happiness and help thousands of people. The activity has especially intensified since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, because our Ukrainian strength is in unity and mutual support.

June 1 is traditionally celebrated as Children’s Day. On this occasion, students of Sumy NAU, on the initiative of Svitlana ZINCHENKO, a lecturer at the Department of Administrative and Information Law, launched a charity event to help children.

As usual, we opened a bank the day before. They managed to accumulate 6780 hryvnias, which they later spent on food, toys, clothes, and hygiene products.

The toys and sweets were provided by AG Ukraine-Chemnitz-Europa e.V., a non-profit organization based in Germany that aims to help Ukrainians in a humanitarian way, support the development of culture and the spread of traditions. The Sambir Coordination Center for Army Assistance Foundation also cooperated with Sumy NAU in the campaign. Sumy cafe Smakota baked pies for the kids.

SNAU youth visited two orphanages: Khoruzhivka Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children and Sumy Regional Specialized Children’s Home. In total, they managed to give a holiday to more than 100 children deprived of parental care.

The students entertained the children with games, dancing, exercises and singing. Together they cooked field porridge and barbecued, and then had a picnic in the open air. The smile did not disappear from the children’s faces, and laughter and joy resounded loudly throughout the territory.
