On 30 October, a forum ‘Youth and Opportunities: Unity in Equality’! More than 10 representatives of the city’s active youth, including 2 students of the SNAU, gathered to discuss the possibility of ensuring equal rights for all.
In addition, the participants had the opportunity to
– share their own experiences and learn from experts on how to improve access to public services
– consider the ‘barrier-free environment’ not only for people with disabilities;
– discuss the basics of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine until 2030.
Sumy NAU was represented by Roman Golikov and Yelyzaveta Volkova. According to our students, the most important thing is the active role of young people in creating a barrier-free space. As Yelyzaveta Volkova, a student of the Faculty of Law, notes:
‘The topic of barrier-free accessibility is very important, especially given the problems with its perception in our society. It is important to be interested in such events, because through awareness we can help to ensure that everyone is as comfortable as possible. The most important thing is to understand the problem and not be afraid to take responsibility to fix it.’
We gathered, discussed, inspired! That’s how the participants describe the events of the forum. We are proud of our students and are confident that the skills they have acquired will help change our society for the better!
