On April 5, 2025, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted one of the brightest events of student life – the SNAU Spring Charity Ball 2025, which became a real oasis of light, unity and faith in the future. The event impressed with its scale, sophistication and fabulous atmosphere created by the students themselves – the main initiators of the ball.
That evening, the university hall turned into a magical world where youth, romance, spring inspiration and faith in goodness reigned supreme. Student couples in elegant outfits opened the evening with the composition “Viennese Waltz” performed by the exemplary modern ballroom dance ensemble “SWAY”.
Rector of Sumy National University Ihor KOVALENKO addressed the participants with a welcoming speech:
“Dear students! I want to express my sincere admiration for you and your perseverance! Despite the difficult times, you unite and create a magical atmosphere that inspires us, the teachers, to work on the development of the NAU for all of us!”
The first dance, a polonaise, was performed by Ihor KOVALENKO and student rector Diana DEREVIANCHENKO.
In her address, Diana DEREVIANCHENKO emphasized:
“This ball is a dream event for us, the students. And we are grateful to the administration and, in particular, to Igor Mykolayovych for the opportunity to be here today. Despite the war, we believe in tomorrow – thanks to your support! All the money raised will go to the all-Ukrainian fundraiser among universities to buy mavicas for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The teamwork of the student community was particularly impressive: all participants showed initiative, responsibility and indifference in preparing the ball. The Rector’s letter of appreciation recognized the active participation in the life of the university and the significant contribution to the creation of this event:

A special award – the gratitude of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mykhailo ANANCHENKO – was presented to Viktoriia ZAYARNA, Head of the Department of Educational Work, for her professionalism and contribution to the development of the student community of the SNAU.
The ball was dominated by a dance extravaganza. Participants performed classical and modern compositions: “Meeting”, polkas “Parrot”, “Belgian”, ‘Berlin’, “Openwork Waltz”, Salsa dance, “Figured Waltz”, game dances and others. The SWAY ensemble also presented the song “Cool Girl”.

- Princess of the Ball – Victoria SHMAT

Margarita LYSHENKO, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Academic Affairs, expressed her gratitude: “Our dear students have once again proved what incredible things they are capable of! Thank you for your energy and activity!”

The culmination of the evening was the news of the successful closing of the Student Rage campaign – more than 50 thousand hryvnas were raised for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine!
The spring charity ball of the NAU-2025 is an example of unity, creativity and love of life, which proves that even in the most difficult times, NAU students do not lose their thirst for beauty and desire to do good deeds.
