Currently, the nationwide project “Big Construction” is gaining momentum in Ukraine, which is a large-scale development of quality infrastructure in Ukraine. The implementation of this initiative is impossible without the construction of high-quality and modern roads. We need modernized energy-efficient technologies, a powerful fleet of road construction machines and highly qualified specialists from all parts of the road construction process.
At present, powerful road construction companies lack specialists of various spectra, who would have specialized knowledge and practical experience. Taking into account that there are no higher education institutions that would train road specialists in Sumy region, the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Sumy National Agrarian University invites applicants for a new educational program of the first (bachelor) level “Roads and transport facilities”, specialty 192 “Construction and Civil Engineering”. Applicants can start their training after they finish a secondary school and study for 4 years or after they get a college certificate to study for 3 years.
In order not only to have high-quality university theoretical knowledge, but also to gain knowledge in production in this area, improving their practical experience with the prospect of further employment, the stakeholders of the educational program became representatives of powerful road construction companies. Among them are RoadConstruction LLC (RGM group), Sumy Oblavtodor Subsidiary of the State Joint-Stock Company Automobile Roads of Ukraine and its branches Okhtyrskii Raiavtodor, Krasnopillia Raiavtodor.
9 students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering (the students of the educational program “Industrial and Civil Engineering”) are undergoing internships in the “RGM group”, which allows them to gain practical knowledge and have an opportunity to combine work and study. Working on the prospects of development of the educational program “Roads and transport facilities” with the assistance of the Rector of SNAU Volodymyr Ladyka, the management of the faculty is establishing business contacts with leading road construction organizations not only from all over Ukraine.
Thus, in May 2021, the SNAU delegation headed by the Rector visited Kyiv to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with the State Enterprise “State Road Research Institute named after MP Shulgin “. We also visited Shostka, where we met with representatives of Dynasty Trading House LLC and Nord-Track LLC, which are leaders in the construction of roads in the northern and north-eastern part of Sumy region.
All meetings with stakeholders and future partners are aimed at implementing educational, scientific projects, as well as the formation of scientific personnel for the road construction industry.
