Sumy National Agrarian University continues to confirm its status as an innovative educational centre that implements advanced technologies. On 4 March 2025, a landmark event took place at the Energy Innovation Hub of SNAU – the receipt of modern equipment for energy audit of buildings and microclimate monitoring. This is another step in the development of the university as a leader in energy efficiency and sustainable development.
This equipment was made possible thanks to the participation of SNAU in the international project ‘Engaging Girls and Women in Ukraine’s Energy Efficiency Recovery through Energy Efficiency Training’. The project is being implemented by the International Development Foundation with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the assistance of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It is part of a broader European initiative to implement the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine, which demonstrates the strategic importance of international partnerships in the implementation of energy innovations.
SNAU is not only an educational institution, but also an active player in the process of restoring and modernising Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The new equipment will allow the university to expand the scope of research and training of future specialists. The rector of the University Ihor Kovalenko noted that these tools open up unique opportunities for conducting applied research, developing energy- efficient solutions and introducing innovations in the construction and electricity sectors.
The practical significance of this step is obvious. Thanks to the equipment, students and researchers will be able to conduct high-precision energy audits of residential and public buildings, test utility networks and develop effective energy management models. This is important not only for the educational process, but also for the real economy, where qualified personnel with practical experience are in high demand.
Researchers from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Transportation, in particular Oleksandr NOVYTSKYI, Oleksandr SAVOISKYI, Dmytro BORODAI and Vitalii SIROBABA, played an important role in the implementation of this project. The Dean of the Faculty, Oleksandr SOLARIOV, stressed that the creation of the Energy Innovation Hub will help train competitive specialists and modernise educational programmes in architecture, construction and electricity in accordance with European standards.
SNAU is consistently implementing modern technologies, strengthening its position as a leading educational and research centre in the field of energy efficiency. The equipment received is not just a technical upgrade, but a strategic tool for the development of science, education and practical implementation of innovations that will contribute to the sustainable development of Ukraine in the energy sector.
