Working Visit of Serhii ZAKHARIN to SNAU

Serhii ZAKHARIN, Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection on Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation, paid a working visit to Sumy NAU.

The tour began at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, where the leading virtual reality and robotics module is located, where the guest was presented with projects by students in collaboration with students of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Natural Resource Management. The deputy chairman also visited the Professor M. Dovzhyk Precision Agriculture Centre and the New Holland Academy, a smart testing ground where students conduct experiments even in winter on warm soil using modern agricultural machinery. The Dean of the Faculty Vladyslav ZUBKO spoke about the importance of technological processes in food production.

The tour continued at the Faculty of Food Technologies, where Serhii ZAKHARIN saw the educational and research laboratory of plant raw material processing technologies, the laboratory of craft technologies and gastronomic innovations, the module of cold technology, and the pig breeding laboratory. Nataliia BOLHOVA, Dean of the Faculty, spoke about the relevance of studying the impact of external factors on products, processing of raw materials, and the creation of environmentally friendly products.

Of course, the agricultural sector accounts for a large part of food production. Therefore, the next location of the tour was the material and technical base of the Faculty of AgroTechnologies and Natural Resource Management. Serhii ZAKHARIN visited the experimental plots, modern chromatography and spectrography laboratories, laboratories for modern vegetation research and rapid diagnostics of plant condition, and a biochemical research laboratory. Vladyslav KOVALENKO, a representative of the faculty, also focused on the scientific and practical laboratory of in vitro biotechnological research, which is equipped with modern equipment for the production of pure potato samples for the manufacture of environmentally friendly and healthy products.

The main part of the tour took place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where the guest got acquainted with the electron microscopy training laboratory, PCR laboratory, and vivarium. Particular attention was drawn to the newly opened aquaculture laboratory, which belongs to the Faculty of Biology and Technology. It was equipped thanks to funding from the European Commission under the EU Erasmus+ programme as part of the AFISHE project “Developing Aquaculture and Fisheries Education for a Green Deal in Armenia and Ukraine: From Education to Ecology”.

The main event of the day was the opening of a new educational and research laboratory of pharmacy with the support of Brovapharma, whose representatives joined the event online.

“The whole family of our university is grateful to Brovapharma for their support. Nowadays, it is important not only how students learn, but also how they acquire practical skills, so modern equipment is the best conditions for raising qualified specialists. We hope that our joint work and efforts will be beneficial for our region and the whole of Ukraine,” Volodymyr LADYKA expressed his gratitude.

“We are all in some way concerned with the biological safety of our country, so pharmacy and its study is the way to solve many of the current problems. I am very pleased that in such a difficult time in Ukraine the conditions for training specialists are developing, thanks to you,” Serhii ZAKHARIN joined the words of gratitude.

“The study of pharmacy is currently relevant not only for our company, such specialists are very valuable for many enterprises, so high-quality student training is the key to success. We are waiting for the specialists from your university to join Brovapharma LLC, and we will provide them with support if necessary,” the representative of Brovapharma LLC responded to the words of gratitude.

 

After the official part, a joint meeting of the university administration was held, during which the guest had the opportunity to answer questions from representatives of the SNAU staff.

The final part of the Deputy Chairman’s visit to SNAU was a visit to the Sumy Business School at the Faculty of Economics and Management. Serhii ZAKHARIN was shown the material and technical facilities, told about the importance and relevance of the project, and presented the activities that have been carried out and are planned in the nearest future.
