Soybean cultivation is a relatively new trend for Ukrainian farmers, but the experts consider it to be very
perspective one as the production of legumes is growing rapidly.
However, this crop is quite demanding in growing. Farmers must obtain specific knowledge. Sumy National Agrarian
University is collaborating with “Dunaiska soia»”LLC, which is engaged in the development of soybean cultivation in
Ukraine.
Recently, Rector of SNAU Volodymyr Ladyka and the Dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Natural
Resource Management Igor Kovalenko have signed the memorandum with “Dunaiska soia” LLC. According to this
memorandum, the university will introduce a new discipline. It is based on the recommendations of leading
companies, which specialise in soybean cultivation. It is also planned to create demo sites for soybean cultivation.
The students will have an opportunity to study this crop. Besides, it is important to create training programs for
farmers who are going to grow soybeans. Such cooperation and synergy of education and business will create
favourable conditions for development of agro-industrial complex in Ukraine.
