A DAY THAT WILL MAKE A HISTORY: A2 MILK HAS COME INTO MASS PRODUCTION

The first A2 milk production line in Ukraine was launched at the Ichnia Milk Powder and Butter Plant.

For people, who are sensitive to the milk protein casein, this is not just an ordinary event. This is a chance for a balanced diet and, consequently, for good health. According to experts, there are about 30% of such people in Ukraine. These are small children, elderly people and just those, who have a sensitive digestive system and feel discomfort after eating dairy products.

The first industrial line for the production of “mild” milk was opened at the Ichnia Milk Powder and Butter Plant in Chernyhiv region. A year ago, Viktor Kyianovskyi, a general director of the «Ichnianske» farm, which supplies milk to the plant, supported the idea of ​​scientists from Sumy National Agrarian University to separate cows with A2 genotype, which produce this “angel” milk.

Why should we choose A2 milk? This question is answered by a specialist in genetics, doctor of medical sciences, a head of the department of the Institute of Physiology named after O.O.Bogomolets Viktor Dosenko: “This milk is mild. Especially in old age, even for people, who are sensitive to lactose, because this milk is evolutionary. All animals – yaks, buffaloes, goats, camels – have A2 milk. We must return to this kind of milk not to have health problems. ”

According to the geneticist, today it is not difficult to determine cows with A2 genotype. This can be done using a common and well-known PCR test. To get the result, you only need to provide DNA samples of the animal – it can be blood, hair, saliva. Samples can be sent by mail. Therefore, any company can start producing “mild” milk.

However, the first place belongs to the Ichnia Milk Powder and Butter Plant. According to Volodymyr Dovhopol, a director of the enterprise, the plant can produce 2,000 packages in 4 hours. This is enough for A2 milk to appear on the shelves of local networks in Chernyhiv and Kyiv regions. Negotiations are also underway with Sumy region’s food networks. It should be noted that craft production of A2 milk in Sumy started last year on the basis of Sumy Cheese Factory O`BEREG.
