INTERNSHIP AT CZECH UNIVERSITY OF LIFE SCIENCES PRAGUE

As a part of support of young scientists Olena Melnyk, Associate Professor of Ecology and Botany Department, visited the Faculty of Tropical Agriscience University of Life Sciences in Prague.

Acquaintance with the university:

– the university is eco-friendly;

– places for separate garbage collection are in each classroom;

– roofs of buildings are equipped with solar panels for water heating;

– a lot of greenery not only outside but also in the middle of the premises, in particular ampel plants;

– there are boxes for collecting old clothes near the university;

– there is a special place to feed stray animals;

– there are playgrounds for domestic animals open for citizens;

– the university has a small botanical park, where each student must undergo a week-long internship.

The most comfortable conditions are created for work and rest of students and teachers:

– every corner of the territory fits harmoniously into the overall picture of the campus and is carefully cared for by a large number of staff;

– modern buildings are equipped with climate control systems and smart windows;

– there are special places for teachers’ and students’ rest on the roofs;

– there are showers, changing rooms, snack rooms for teachers in the educational buildings;

– there are cafes, canteens and even its own brewery on campus;

– tuition fees are quite democratic, from 200 Euros per year for individual programs, but there are also expensive individual training programs for those who combine both training and work;

– for foreign students and citizens of the Czech Republic tuition fees are the same;

– at some faculties up to 50% of students are foreigners;

– each of the 6 faculties has a department of international cooperation, that explains the large number of grant programs;

During the internship at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague I had a great opportunity to talk to the Head of the Project Department, Ms. Teresa, listen to the international conference Agriscience, visit the ancient library on the territory of the monastery.

For young scientists an internship is a great experience and a new step towards development.

We are thankful to the Czech University of Life Science (Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences) and Czech government supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, which allowed this scientific cooperation to start within the project «AgriSciences Platform for Scientific Enhancement of HEIs in Ukraine».
