On April 25, 2022, Sumy National Agrarian University was visited by a group of people’s deputies headed by Yu. Hryshyna, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The delegation included M. Ananchenko, T. Skrypka and A. Shvachko. The main purpose of the visit is to discuss the problems of this year’s university entrance campaign, the peculiarities of its introduction in the region bordering on the russian federation. Rector of the University V. Ladyka introduced the main issues: regional and sectoral coefficients, the possibility of distance entry for foreign students and others.
During the visit, MPs had the opportunity to get acquainted with the material and technical resources of the university, in particular with the scientific laboratories of the Center for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment for Advanced Agricultural Technologies “Laboratory of Ecological Agriculture and Nature Management” and the Institute of Potato Problems of North-Eastern Ukraine. By the way, today only two government institutions in Ukraine are engaged in research in the field of potato breeding. These are Sumy NAU and the Institute of Potato NAAS of Ukraine. Today there are more than 20 varieties of potatoes in the SNAU collection.
The Head of the Department of Breeding and Seed Production V.Onychko acquainted the guests with the main directions of scientific research conducted in laboratories.
Yu. Hryshyna noted that Sumy National Agrarian University is one of the leaders in national agricultural education today. Systematic development of applied science and connection with agrarian business is the basis that can guarantee food security in the region. In addition, the MPs congratulated the university staff on the upcoming 45th anniversary and wished to increase the achievements and continue to work effectively for the development of Ukraine.
