Sumy National Agrarian University signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with RGM Group, a road construction group of companies.

RGM Group is a Sumy-based company specialising in the construction of roads and bridges, production of products for road infrastructure, sale of building materials and provision of special equipment services (more information at https://rgm-group.com.ua/).

At the end of November last year, a delegation of RGM Group visited Sumy National Agrarian University to explore the prospects for cooperation and establish communication between the company and the educational institution (more information is available at https://snau.edu.ua/snau-vidvidala-delegaciya-kompani%d1%97-rgm-group-2/).

The first step towards the implementation of the discussed issues was the Memorandum signing of Cooperation between Volodymyr LADYKA, Rector of SNAU, and Yana SELINA, Executive Director of RGM Group, on 22 January 2024.

The RGM Group delegation at the signing consisted of 4 people who will be directly involved in the implementation of the terms of the Memorandum. Among them are Yana SELINA, Executive Director of RGM Group, Andriy DODENKO, Technical Director, Natalia PETROVA, HR Director, and Liubov KARPENKO, Communications and Public Relations Director.

Sumy National Agrarian University was represented by the management of the university, represented by the Rector Volodymyr LADYKA and Vice-Rectors Yurii DANKO and Ihor KOVALENKO, as well as representatives of the Faculty of Construction and Transport, headed by Dean Oleksandr SOLARIOV, who initiated the cooperation with RGM Group, and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Margarita LYSHENKO.

The main motivator of the cooperation between Sumy National University and, in particular, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Transport and RGM Group was Dean Oleksandr Solariov, who has recently taken up his post but has already made successful steps towards the development and improvement of the educational process and the material and technical base. Oleksandr Solariov thanked the company’s employees and proposed an algorithm of work: signing a Memorandum, discussing a cooperation map and a tour of the material and technological base.

Before signing the Memorandum, the Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University Volodymyr LADYKA welcomed the participants and highlighted the desirable aspects of cooperation and told them about the history of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Transport: “We should also turn our attention to construction in agriculture to combine the university’s agricultural focus with cooperation with the company, at least at the community level. It is important that SNAU and RGM Group complement each other and follow the American principle of ‘teach the teacher’.”

Yana Selina, Executive Director of RGM Group, is also convinced of the prospects for cooperation.

Through discussion, the participants created a joint work plan for 2024. In addition to the task itself, the document also specifies responsible persons and deadlines, which will greatly facilitate communication and management between the parties. This includes joint research, lectures and meetings. Moreover, it is planned to create sketch plans for buildings and structures, general and technical plans, and further employment of SNAU students in the RGM Group.

In the end, the delegation, together with the university staff, inspected the equipment that RGM Group has already handed over to the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Transport, namely an asphalt paver, and a newly equipped Business School based at the Faculty of Economics and Management.
