On April 4, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine initiated a meeting with students to discuss the changes taking place in the national education system.
Sumy National Agrarian University was represented at the meeting by the student rector, Diana DEREVIANCHENKO, and the first deputy chairman of the primary trade union organization of students and graduate students, Victoria TOKAR. The women, who hold high positions in student associations, are well aware of all the problems that young people face. Especially given that our institution is located near the war zone.
The main purpose of the meeting between the students and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, headed by Deputy Minister Mykhailo VYNNYTSKYI, was to discuss some new bills related to higher education and to amend existing ones. For example, the government representative introduced the concept of draft laws amending certain laws of Ukraine on financing higher education and providing state targeted support to its applicants, as well as the draft law amending the draft laws on the development of individual educational trajectories and improving the educational process. In addition, the participants also considered the aspect of supporting research in higher education institutions, which is already supported by the law of Ukraine and now requires amendments. The discussion also touched upon the issue of possible changes in the structure of the organization and functioning of educational institutions.
At the end, the students had a question-and-answer session. Representatives of the SNAU emphasized the functioning and support of separate structural units – colleges.
The students of Sumy National Agrarian University express hope that the students’ opinion will have a positive impact on further decisions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and will give impetus to new achievements in the field of education reform in Ukraine.
