On March 1, 2023, Tetiana Shevchenko, Associate Professor, PhD, Senior Researcher at the Research Department of Sumy National Agrarian University, participated in the CircularIT Alliance conference as a member of the research team from the University of Paris-Saclay in France. This conference was held at the production facility of General Electric Healthcare with the attendance of scientists and managers of the Alliance partners. The event discussed the results of the CircularIT Alliance’s activities in implementing digital tools for managing the circular economy of industrial enterprises. The program of the event included participation in a roundtable, presentations of developments by Alliance scientists, as well as an excursion to get acquainted with the experience of General Electric Healthcare in product lifecycle management. During the roundtable of the CircularIT Alliance, Tetiana Shevchenko took part in the discussion of mechanisms for implementing circular economy strategies for GE Healthcare products.

While discussing the developments of scientists from companies IRT SystemX, Manitou Group, GE Healthcare, CSTB, MEWS, a separate case study was presented on the rebuilding of territories affected by the war. Tetiana Shevchenko has outlined the content of the new project “Reconstruction of war-affected territories based on EU initiatives on circular economy: Action Plan for the rebuilding of post-war Ukraine”, which was launched in December 2023. The project will be conducted with the participation of one of the Alliance’s partners – the Scientific and Technical Center for Building (CSTB), which has agreed to collaborate on this project. The CSTB is the most authoritative research institute in the field of construction and reconstruction in France. CSTB’s research is integrated into the programs of the French Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. To support the construction sector and local authorities in the field of circular economy and waste recycling, the Institute has developed a number of tools that are successfully applied by construction companies. These tools can be adapted for Ukraine to accelerate the reconstruction of Ukrainian territories in accordance with EU norms and standards.

Sincerely grateful to research team leader Bernard Yannou (Director of the Industrial Engineering Research Department, CentraleSupélec) and event organizer Robert Heidsieck (Director, Lifecycle Solutions Product Circularity, General Electric Healthcare) for the invitation to participate in this event!
