THE CENTER OF UKRAINIAN HEMP GROWING WILL BE CREATED ON THE BASIS OF SNAU

The project “Creation of agricultural tourism cluster” Slobozhanske hemp growing”- is one of the crucial projects of Sumy region and Ukraine, which is financed from the state, regional budgets and other sources, is being implemented in the region. The project envisages the creation of an all-Ukrainian training and practice center for the development of hemp growing with the active participation of Sumy National Agrarian University, the Institute of Fiber Crops of NAAS of Ukraine, the Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast of NAAS Ukraine, the Center for Ukrainian hemp growing in Sumy. Completion of the project is planned this year.

In addition to the two research institutes of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Sumy National Agrarian University, where the Center for Collective Use operates, is also involved in the implementation of projects in the framework of the cluster.

“Today, the center has been modernized with scientific equipment and adapted for hemp research. Three scientific laboratories have already been re-equipped, the fourth one is awaiting a tender and will be specialized entirely in hemp production, ”Yurii Danko, Vice-Rector for Research at SNAU said.

Two thirds of the funding for this project is related to the establishment of the Ukrainian Hemp Center, which will be located in Sumy. It will be a spacious hub with extended functional purpose with an exhibition space, interactive support and a tasting room, with a public space arranged nearby.

Sumy region, having a strong scientific potential, good conditions for growing hemp, has every opportunity to be competitive globally.
