THE MEETING FOR THE PARTNERS OF THE PROJECT “EXPANSION OF FORMAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF GREEN AND CRAFT TOURISM WITHIN THE TOURIST TRIANGLE OF SUMY REGION” TOOK PLACE IN HLUKHIV

On December 3, a meeting of the partners of “Expansion of formal employment opportunities through the development of green and craft tourism within the “Tourist Triangle of Sumy Region” project took place in Hlukhiv. The project partners took part in it: coordinators from the International Labor Organization, representatives of the Sumy Regional State Administration, representatives of communities and the regional employment center.

The overall goal of the project is to expand employment opportunities for vulnerable groups of Sumy region in the field of green and craft tourism by forming an effective social partnership, reducing threats to social inclusion and developing the competitiveness of regional tourism product.

“The project is a kind of challenge, because in 18 months we must not just create, but also see the result of 25 newly created businesses. Also on the basis of the university we will create a Business Hub – a platform for those who already work in business and want to improve their skills, and for those who want to start their own business. The university will be an active participant in the project and will involve students studying in the educational programs Tourism and Food Technology”, Volodymyr Ladyka, the rector of SNAU, said.

“It is important for us to enter an inclusive labor market. Inclusion includes the involvement in the process of all vulnerable groups of people who can actively participate in the project, ” Olena Medvid, Deputy Head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, said.

Results to be achieved at the end of the project:

  1. Increasing the level of entrepreneurial motivation and interest of the population of Sumy region (vulnerable groups) to official employment and self-employment in tourism and other related areas.
  2. Improved correspondence between the skills development systems of the unemployed population, the needs of the tourism industry and the needs of the regional labor market.
  3. Access to education is provided for vulnerable groups in order to start their own business and develop entrepreneurship in the field of craft technology and green tourism.
  4. Access to financial support for start-ups, advisory services, mentoring, assistance in assessing the investment risks of entrepreneurship in the field of tourism for vulnerable groups is provided.
  5. Effective social partnership between vulnerable people, local authorities and business structures has been provided to create new business initiatives in the field of green and craft tourism in Sumy region.

The participants signed a Memorandum and discussed specific stages of the project implementation and commitments.
