PROGRAM: Training of experts to assess the condition of soils damaged as a result of hostilities

TARGET GROUP: former military personnel with education/experience in agriculture, environmental protection, cartography (20-24 people).

TRAINING SCHEDULE
1 week – online training.
Week 2 – Sumy National Agrarian University.
3.4 weeks – remote consultations, preparation of the report.
December 11-13 – defence of the report at Sumy National Agrarian University (possibly online).
LANGUAGE: English (translation will be provided), Ukrainian.
UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM, THE SPECIALISTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
– take samples of soils damaged as a result of hostilities;
– analyse soil samples for contaminants using modern equipment (PxRF);
– to record the environmental consequences of hostilities using GIS technologies and remote sensing tools;
– conduct research on the consequences of hostilities using aerial photographs. Processing of aerial photographs using QGIS software;
– use data from ground-based hyperspectrometric measurements to assess the condition of the soil;
– calculate the damage caused to agricultural land as a result of hostilities.
All expenses (accommodation, travel, meals, training) are covered by the program organizers.
