Ukraine celebrates the Day of Vyshyvanka (Ukrainian national embroidered shirt). Vyshyvanka Day is not yet an official and relatively new national holiday, designed to promote the unity and cultural revival of the entire multinational Ukrainian people. It is celebrated on the third Thursday of May. In 2020, the Day of Vyshyvanka is on May 21.
Vyshyvanka Day is not only symbolic, but also educational celebration at SNAU, as the university has many students from other countries. This holiday is a great opportunity to inform foreign students about the culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people. Every year students, teachers, employees of SNAU wear national clothes, take photos.
Although this year’s quarantine has significantly limited the opportunities to create photos, students and teachers do not lose their opportunity to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. A number of activities dedicated to the national holiday take place on the official website of SNAU, the student administration website and the trade union of students website. In particular, there was a contest for the most original photo in vyshyvanka.
Thus, nothing can eliminate the spirit of national unity and patriotism!
