From November 6 to 10, 2023, Sumy National Agrarian University held the academic integrity week, which consisted of a number of events aimed at popularizing the principles of academic integrity among students and academic staff.

According to the Law of Ukraine “On Education”, academic integrity is a set of ethical principles and legally designated regulations which serve guidelines for all involved in academic processes (studying, teaching and carrying out research / creative work) and committed to ensure reliability of learning and research outcomes.

During the week classes at Sumy NAU started with a discussion of academic integrity issues in order to realize the importance of ethical principles in the educational process. In addition, the curators held educational hours for students, during which they highlighted the issues of compliance with the Law, types of violations and possible penalties for non-compliance.

On November 7, the Department of Quality of Education, Licensing and Accreditation, together with representatives of the Student Partnership Committee for Education Quality Assurance, held a roundtable “Academic Integrity: Student View and Expectations”. During the discussion, the following aspects were considered: the importance of observing the principles of integrity in the academic environment, the formation of academic culture among students, as well as students’ role in improving the quality system of Education.

On November 8, students and teachers of the University listened with interest to the speech of Artem ARTIUKHOV, a member of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, “Academic Integrity for Freshmen and Experienced Students”. In addition, Liudmyla PETROVA, head of the Library’s Information and Bibliographic Department, presented the University’s information webpage “Academic Integrity” (the link: https://library.snau.edu.ua/akademichna-dobrochesnist/).

On November 9, World Quality Day, employees of the Quality, Licensing and Accreditation Department held a quiz “Academic Integrity: a Challenge for All”. Competitions were held between student teams of all faculties. The team of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology won this competition.

A survey for applicants for higher education on compliance with the norms and principles of academic integrity continued throughout the week. The results will be presented later.
