HOW TO FOCUS ON WORK AFTER THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS?

January is a very busy month. This applies not only to the fact that it marks the beginning of the new year, but also to the fact that there are many holidays this month. New Year and Christmas holidays were especially long this year and lockdown, introduced on the 8th of January, delayed the process of adjusting to work.

But how to focus on work again after holidays and lockdown, when your body and mind are already accustomed to the regime of rest? Don’t panic! Let’s return to everyday life step by step.

The psychologist of Sumy National Agrarian University Daryna Vereshchahina offers some tips:

  1. Take your time. You, like any ambitious person, have already drawn up a new plan for 2021. And that’s very good, because planning helps you realize where to go. But do not start at maximum and do not try to start the “super-efficiency” mode at once. Listen to yourself. For a start, do easy tasks at work, but do not put off the rest. Gradually restore your schedule, normalize sleep, nutrition, pay attention to physical activity. Try to exercise in the morning, breakfast should be light and try to go to bed at least 15 minutes earlier than usual, put the phone away. Every day you will feel how your productivity increases.
  2. Checklist. Even if you are not a fan of planning everything down to the smallest detail, sometimes it is necessary to make a small plan in order to make the most of your time. If you have a goal, then you must consciously manage your energy and time. Dream a little, make a checklist of your achievements for the future. You can do it every day or at least make a plan of important things for a week. The right priorities will help you track your successes and failures.
  3. Stop coercion. Don’t force yourself to do what you didn’t want to do anyway. Plans, schedules, dreams are all great, but they will not work if you don’t want to do anything. You need to move forward and you need inspiration to succeed.
