The Virtual Semester of Studies at the University of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf Is Over

Free education in a European educational institution? Not a dream, but a real opportunity for students of Sumy NAU! For the second time, our young people are completing a virtual semester at the German University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf!

In total, 11 partner universities and 153 students from around the world, including 27 students from Sumy NAU, took part in the virtual semester 2023/2024. It is worth noting that this is the second time that Agrarian students have been offered the opportunity to study at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and their own educational institution free of charge.

The courses were offered in two languages: Ukrainian and English. The young people could choose the subjects they were most interested in, such as “English for Study, Work and Life Abroad”, “Personal Branding”, “Data Collection”, etc. The main condition for choosing a field of study was to complete the required number of credits. The training was implemented through the virtual platforms VHB and Wbmoodle. This system resembles the Moodle platform, which is familiar to Ukraine. The virtual semester consisted of online lectures, practical assignments, and joint research projects.

After graduation, students will get academic certificates from the German University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf with credits that will be transferred to a domestic educational institution.

On 12 March 2024, a final online meeting was held to summarise the results of the cooperation and discuss the work done during the virtual academic semester at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences 2023-2024. The participants considered opportunities for further development of the project, development of new courses and implementation of innovative teaching methods.

Moreover, during the online meeting, students had the opportunity to express their opinions on the implementation of this international project and on opportunities for further improvement of learning. Such feedback will further help the organisers of the virtual semester to adapt the educational environment to the challenges faced by young people in each of the 5 countries where the partner universities are located. In addition, such open discussions of the knowledge delivery quality during the semester confirm the readiness of all parties involved to work together on new implementations and initiatives.
